Preventive Dentistry
Perhaps the most powerful way to keep teeth healthy and strong is to take preventive measures at home. Dr. Reesman and his hygenists will talk to you about the best personal routines, the best tools and the most up-to-date techniques, to help you keep your teeth for a lifetime.
Sealants
Sealants are especially effective on children's teeth. The liquid sealant is painted onto the chewing surfaces of the first or second teeth before decay has begun. With periodic check-ups and renewal, sealants help protect children during their most cavity-prone years (from early childhood until the mid teens).
Cosmetic Bonding
Covering stains and filling in chips and gaps can dramatically improve your appearance. In a quick and painless process, the surface of the tooth is lightly etched to receive the bonding material, which is then shaped and polished. If you are not happy with your smile, ask us how we can help.
Porcelain Laminates
Porcelain laminates (or veneers) are another method of improving your smile. This two-appointment process places a thin layer of highly stain-resistant porcelain on the surface of your teeth. This may be particularly appealing to those who smoke or drink a lot of coffee.
Root Canals
When the pulp at the center of your tooth gets infected, it will require treatment to prevent an abcess or the development of a cyst. Modern root canal treatment is a painless process to remove the infected pulp and save the tooth. It is most often completed in one visit.
Implant Prosthetics
As one of the most exciting fields of modern dental care, implants have been nothing less than a minor miracle for those who need replacement of lost teeth. Dr. Reesman has twenty years of experience with implants and, along with a surgical specialist, can provide the best treatment option designed especially for you.
Crowns and Bridges
Sometimes teeth need extra support to withstand the forces of biting and chewing. Perhaps they have very big fillings, or they are in danger of breaking - or perhaps they have already broken. Crowns provide this support, and can also be used to attach a non-removable bridge when one or more natural teeth need to be replaced.
Dentures
If you wear dentures, you know that the shape of your jaw can change subtly over time, and your dentures will need to be relined to make them fit comfortably again. In more severe cases of denture looseness, a new denture may be necessary. Call our office for a consultation to see what is best for you.
Nitrous Oxide
When a patient needs extra help to remain relaxed and reduce anxiety, this mixture of nitrous oxide (also called laughing gas) creates a very calming effect.
Specialty Care
Racine is very fortunate to have the finest specialists in all areas of dentistry. When specialty care is needed, whether for endodontics (root canal), periodontics (gum treatment), orthodontics (braces), or oral surgery, Dr. Reesman will refer you to the best care possible.
